Chakras

IMG_1435I’ve always been interested in how our bodies take on every moment of every day.  Many preach that to experience happiness it’s best to live in the moment.  To not dwell on the past or worry about the future.  I don’t think that means to completely check out but it does mean to not linger on what we cannot change.

There are a lot of times when I worry over things that just don’t happen.  I make up scenarios in my mind of what is going to happen.  I waste so much time trying to dictate what the outcome will be.  Sometimes it happens as I foresee it but most of the time it doesn’t.  It’s very hard not to linger on what could have been instead of what is.

I’m in Rio now enjoying what is the Olympic experience.  It never ceases to amaze me the work and dedication that goes into making all of this happen.  Countries that have no money and God knows the difficulties take on the tremendous task for two weeks of excitement.  It is a wonderful and rare experience even though this is number eight for me.  Everyone is different and Rio is no exception.

I am not staying in the heart of all of the festivities and will be inside a studio most of the time but I find that almost as fascinating as exploring each city.  It’s a city unto itself and has been to so many Olympics I see people that I don’t often get to see on a regular basis.  We catch up the first few days and then get down to business.  So much happens in that studio as the Olympics progress.  One never knows what is going to happen and what drama will unfold which makes it more interesting than just watching it on TV.

So what does this have to do with Chakras? The Sanskrit meaning is “wheels of energy”.  And there are a lot of wheels going on in this city right now.  It’s a bit unsettling being in another country especially when you don’t speak the language.  The press has put a not so pleasant light on the safety of Rio.  The country is in a deep recession and the government is in shambles.  Not exactly a positive energy to be surrounded by.  But the people are what make up a city and the Brazilian people have been nothing but kind and helpful.

I know that when I have to do something that is out of my comfort zone there is definitely an unsettling feeling in my stomach, my headaches and my overall well being suffer.  My mind starts to wander about the worst-case scenario instead of what may or will be a truly enjoyable and sometimes life-changing experience.

I took a Chakra test just for the heck of it and the bulk of my Chakras were closed.  I have been feeling a bit lonely and disconnected.  I haven’t felt as strong as usual and being in a strange land has magnified that feeling.

So I say it’s time to open up those Chakras and what a better way than in Rio and at the Olympics!  Take it all in and enjoy!  It is a once in a lifetime experience and it’s high time I get back to the joy of it all!  After all, they have an enormous Christ the Redeemer statue up on a hill with his arms stretched out wide just waiting for me to take in his embrace and the view of a beautiful city.
